Children at Destination Weddings

A popular question we are asked by many of our couples is - Do we invite Children?

It is entirely your decision.  Many couples include Children but we also book many Adult only weddings too.   It's really down to your preference and who you want to attend.  After all,  It is your wedding day!

At the beginning of your planning, you will need to decide if Children will be invited or not. This can help determine the resort type you will need and that everyone will enjoy.  You may decide you prefer an Adult Only destination so it's more relaxing and romantic.  Keep in mind,  this could prevent those with little ones attending unless they have someone that can take care of the children.  We recommend checking with those that you really want to attend that have children, to see if this is a problem or they may have to decline.  If there are children invited, please provide your Destination Wedding specialist a list of age ranges so that we can find a resort that's child friendly based on the ages provided.

When children are attending there may be extra requirements when picking a Destination and Resort. For example you may want a short Airport transfer.  Something closer to the airport, rather than 1.5 hour transfers for example.

Other things to consider would be:

  • Does the resort offer Kids clubs for the ages travelling? Some resorts start at age 3 and they can end at age 12-17.

  • Are there any types of Baby clubs or facilities for under 3s?

  • Is baby sitting provided or an option?

  • Are there activities available for the children such as waterpark, splash areas, teen lounges etc?

  • Will you be providing Favours for the Adults?  Therefore you may want to look at Welcome Bags for the kids.

It can be a big decision for our couples to determine whether or not to invite children to their Destination Wedding.  It's difficult to ask your guests to leave their children at home whilst they are away for a week.  If you do decide on an Adult only resort,  Advise your guests you understand if they can not attend.  Maybe they could travel for a shorter time if they can't manage a full week?

If Welcome Bags or Wedding Day activities are something you are considering for the little ones.  We have provided a small list of suggested items to give you an idea of what you could give.
